The Promotion Conference of Dongfang City's Digital City and the Digital Economy Research Activity have been successfully concluded.
On the afternoon of January 19, 2025, the Promotion Conference of Dongfang City's Digital City and the Digital Economy Research Activity were grandly held at the Oriental Aoyue Grand Elegant Hotel. This event attracted more than 60 representatives from over a dozen countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Finland, Serbia, France, Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, Thailand, and Hong Kong, China, to participate together.

This promotion conference originated from the AAVS (AA Visiting School) short-term visiting school activity initiated by the Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA) in the UK. The aim is to bring cutting-edge architectural education concepts to different countries and regions. Through cooperation with local institutions of higher learning and organizations, AA organizes short-term visiting schools to explore experimental regional issues and cultivate innovative design thinking. Up to now, AA has established short-term visiting school programs in more than 100 cities around the world, attracting thousands of students, and is committed to supporting the development of human society.

As an activity on the closing day of AAVS, the Promotion Conference of Dongfang City's Digital City was launched at 14:30 in the afternoon of that day. The leaders of the Bureau of Commerce of Dongfang City delivered a speech, introducing the initial achievements in the construction of the digital industry in Dongfang City. The industrial scale and investment scale have continued to rise, maintaining an average annual growth rate of over 30%.
Dongfang City has successfully established a complete digital city industrial chain that covers upstream equipment manufacturers, midstream data processing and analysis platforms, and downstream service operators. It has also achieved close connection and coordinated development among the upstream and downstream sectors of the industrial chain. Thanks to its unique geographical location, Dongfang City enjoys unique advantages in exploring the Southeast Asian market. During the 10-day short-term visiting school program, scholars and experts conducted on-site investigations in Dongfang City, visiting places such as the Datian Eld's Deer Nature Reserve, the Black-faced Spoonbill Reserve, and Baicha Village, the best-preserved ancient Li ethnic village. They accumulated valuable first-hand information. When visiting the Natural Resources and Planning Bureau of Dongfang City, Sun Yunzhi, the chief engineer of the bureau, explained the current situation and future plans of Dongfang City to the participants, and they had in-depth discussions on the planning of the industrial ecology and potential scenarios for the application of the digital city.
In recent years, relying on its unique geographical advantages and rich resource endowments, Dongfang City has actively developed the trade industry and gradually established its status as a core city in the Hainan Free Trade Port.
